I am someone's Mama. That is pretty scary to me and probably should be to other members of organized society. But I have never been so happy or felt so much like I had a purpose. I hope you enjoy my musings.

MAMA!

I have been waging a tireless campaign to be Little Man's first word. My dear husband has been nothing but encouraging in this effort which causes a brief flash of guilt... and then it subsides. I was hoping for one of those thrilling domestic competitions such as the infamous "Dish Standoff" or "Who 's gonna clean the bathtub?" but Monkey Sr. took the high road leaving me to my childish game.

BUT I WON!!! He said MAMA!!! Monkey Sr. and I were changing his clothes before we took him to school this morning and he looked up and said MAMA! (it was followed by baba and ch but it still counts) I looked up at Mr. Monkey to confirm...he was smiling...he heard it too...it wasn't in my head!!! I called it and put it in the baby book for posterity. All these weeks of my incessant one-sided competition was worth it! Victory is mine!

Finding his shadow...and the first wave

Tonight Monkey and I went visiting! We hung out with another family with a baby 3 weeks older than Monkey! My baby discovered his shadow! He chased it around the room patting it! Observing this unusual phenomenon soon alerted the other baby to the presence of his own shadow. It was absolutely hysterical!

Monkey also waved Sunday. Well, sort of...I waved at him and he put up his hand. That counts! I'm calling it. My baby waved at me!!! Here's a pic...
